Question by Rae: Canon Powershot A1100 IS isn’t uploading pictures to computer?
Whenever I try to plug in my Canon Powershot A1100 IS digital camera, this notification pops up that says “Found New Hardware. Windows needs to install driver software for your Cannon Digital Camera.” So I click the option that says “Locate and install driver software.” Then after a few minutes another notification pops up that says “Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. This operation requires an interactive window station.”
I really want to get these pictures onto my computer, but this keeps happening. I’m pretty sure I already installed the CD that comes with the camera. I also can’t find any driver downloads for it on any websites that are free.
Can somebody please, please, help me fix this so I can put the pictures on my computer?
Thank you!

Don’t bother with cables or special software!
The easiest and best method to transfer photos and video from your camera to your computer is via a little USB card reader (which are very cheap these days and widely available).
Card readers also work for moving photos from the computer onto a card.
Plug the reader into a USB port and insert the memory card.
It will show up as a drive, and you can simply drag and drop the photos across to the folder of your choice.
